HDFql Reference Manual v2.6.0

6.1.16VARINT

The HDFql VARINT data type stores values between -2,147,483,648 and 2,147,483,647 and occupies 4 bytes in memory (per element). It represents the data type of an HDF5 (variable-length) H5T_NATIVE_INT dataset/attribute or of a result set that stores variable-length elements of this type (which can be retrieved using the HDFQL_CURSOR_GET_INT and HDFQL_SUBCURSOR_GET_INT functions when working with cursors). Depending on the programming language supported by HDFql, the VARINT data type is represented by:

  • In C, the “int” data type.
  • In C++, the “int” data type.
  • In Java, the “ArrayList<Integer>” class.
  • In Python, the “int32” NumPy data type.
  • In C#, the “Int32” data type (or corresponding alias “int”).
  • In Fortran, the “INTEGER(KIND = 4)” data type.
  • In R, the “integer” data type.
  • In MATLAB, the “int32” data type.
